Our school-based health nurse works for Queensland Health five days each fortnight (2.5 days per week) to:

  • Provide confidential health consultations for young people and their families. These include accurate health information, support, brief intervention, and referral.
  • Work collaboratively with young people, their families, the school community, and other services
  • Support schools to use a whole of school (Health Promoting Schools ) approach to health promotion
  • Provide current evidence, information and support about youth health issues to the school and broader community.

Issues may include

  • healthy eating and physical activity
  • mental health issues
  • relationships
  • growth and development,
  • personal and family issues
  • sexual health
  • smoking, alcohol and other drugs

Young people have a right to confidentiality when accessing health appointments and with a few exceptions the nurse maintains this. Please discuss this with the nurse.

Appointments can be made either in person or by phone.
