Student Expectations – Online Learning
Online learning will be a new process for everyone involved, we have created some handy tips and steps to follow to assist with the transition to this new environment.
Please know if you are difficulties connection or accessing online materials please contact your class teacher for support.
Please discuss the following items with your child before you begin your Term 2 online learning.
While you may not be
physically attending school, our expectations of you are the same while classes are offered – no matter where you are engaging in your learning.
- Be ready to learn and continue your educational journey
- Read any instructions from your teachers carefully
- Keep your work organised –
- Save files carefully if you are working on them,
- glue in any printed off work,
- Date and title any written work in your workbook.
- Establish a routine as soon as you can
- Set-up a space where you will do your learning each day.
- Be sure your device is charged and ready for the day and
- Ensure that you have all equipment ready
- Have a check in process before and after each lesson – use the knowledge and skills section as a checklist for the end of the lesson
- Refer to the lesson plan to ensure that you are submitting the correct work to then receive feedback from your teacher.
- When sending emails or on the discussion boards be a good Digital Citizen;
- Remember the 5C's when operating online
- Ensure that you don't post any personal details or those belonging to others online in any forum
- If you experience any negative behaviour online, please inform your teacher
- Keep all contact positive online
- Safe searching
- Stay safe - digital footprint
- If you are not able to complete the tasks for day/week,
- please communicate this with your parent/caregiver
- and then your teacher
- Teachers are managing the same number of students that they would have in their normal classes, feedback would be provided periodically throughout the week
Remember when working from home:
- Is there adequate lighting
- Maintain good posture (monitor is central, keyboard and mouse at elbow height)
- Ensure regular breaks
- Keep food and drinks away from devices
It is important to acknowledge and praise their efforts when they are engaged and developing good study habits. If you have any good news stories please share them with your teachers so they can acknowledge your child's great work.
