While you engage in the International student program at Chancellor State College, a team of people will be key to your day-to-day operations. Their role will be to ensure and support international students' academic learning integration, ensure school work, attendance and support structures are progressing well, and assist with any homestay or school issues that may arise.
John has over 26 years teaching experience in Science, Maths and Humanities in various schools in Queensland and London, England. Since 2010 he has been a Head of Department of various faculties at Chancellor State College including Science, Humanities and Languages as well as experience as the Deputy Principal for Senior Schooling. John provides expert advice to our students on subject selection and career pathways and oversees the International Student Program.
Heidi has been the International Homestay Coordinator at Chancellor State College for over 10 years. In 2015 and then again in 2017 she was recognised for her excellent work at the EQI Conference Awards. Her reputation for providing exceptional service and care to our international students is well established with agents locally and abroad and is often the reason agents recommend our college to prospective clients.
Jill Thorpe – EALD Tutor
Jill has been supporting students at Chancellor State College whose first language is not English for the past 18 months. Prior to that, she taught English as a Foreign Language for 16 years in Japan, mainly in elementary schools. She also helped train Japanese teachers to teach English. As part of her work, she introduced Japanese students to Australian culture and prepared them for homestay experiences in Australia. She is extremely interested in Japanese culture and cooking. She also has had the personal experience of being a parent in Japan and raising a child to be bilingual.
Ashley Egan – EALD Tutor
Ashley has been teaching since 2008 and has taught English, Humanities, Health and Physical Education and German in both private and state schools in Queensland. Having trained as a language teacher, Ashley has studied in Germany at the Goethe Institut and has worked with students learning a second language for a number of years. Ashley understands the difficulties of learning another language and the support needed to successfully study in a foreign country.
