Letter from Katrin Bahlke

Image Hey guys,
My name is Katrin Bahlke and I'm from Germany. I was at Chancellor State College in term one, 2009 and I really enjoyed it!
It was a good choice to go there, for sure. There aren't too many exchange students at Chancellor, which made it easier to get involved with Australians and the different culture.

In our small group of Internationals we got along very well with each other and it was a daily routine for us to meet in the international office every morning before school. With our coordinators and teachers, there was always a friendly atmosphere and we were like a little family all together.

We did a trip to Fraser Island as well which was good fun!

At school, we got lots of support with our assignments or other problems, so it wasn't too difficult to get used to the different school system. The uniforms were quite nice as well! In Germany, we can wear whatever we want, so it was an interesting experience for me.
I learned so much about Australia, its nature and its culture, I was taught slang, I tried surfing, I fed kangaroos,...it was just a great time!
Additionally, I've made some very good friends and I'm still keeping in touch with them. It was very sad to say goodbye to them and to leave Australia.

I think, three months are a little bit too short, I would have liked to stay longer. However, one thing is sure: After finishing school, I will come back.

Katrin
