    Term 2, 2009:
Unit OutlineThis unit encourages students to value the importance of an informed opinion.  It challenges them to explore Australian history from a cultural perspective, focusing on the pathways of minority cultures, in particular Indigenous Australians.  The unit examines how historical inequity, government policy, cultural bias and media portrayals have contributed to the marginalisation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.  From there, students explore the wider concept of “marginalisation” including investigating another marginalised culture from around the world. The culmination of the students learning journey is their critical reflection upon their personal beliefs and their potential to make a difference in the future.
