| Unit Outline | This integrated unit develops core SOSE understandings from the "Culture and Identity" strand of the SOSE syllabus in addition to literacy and mathematical skills. This unit encourages the values of tolerance, empathy and understanding by exploring the cultures, stories and identities of the people who, together, form modern Australia with special recognition of our indigenous forebears. To celebrate the 150th year of Queensland the unit then explores cultural groups who have, in their own ways, contributed to the social, cultural, artistic and sporting life of Queensland. The unit encourages students to embrace difference, recognising that modern Queensland is the result of a “melting pot” of different cultures and traditions. The unit culminates in a celebration of the different cultures and practices that contribute to and enrich life in Queensland today. | Key Assessment Task 1 | | Key Assessment Task 2 | | Maths Assessment Task 1 | | Maths Assessment Task 2 | | | MYJ Task 1 | | | MYJ Task 2 | |
