Chancellor State College is one of the Queensland Environmentally Sustainable Schools participating in this initiative. QESSI's mission is to establish a network of environmentally sustainable schools that demonstrate whole of school environmental actions and curricula connections based on ecological sustainable development principles. - establishing a permaculture garden with a worm farm for school waste
- working with the Student Environment Portfolio
- planting of over 200 local native plants including koala food trees in school grounds
- using water initiatives
- waste recycling
- having curriculum connections (Year 8 Unit of work on climate change)
- registering the Secondary School as a "Green and Healthy School"
- participating in partnerships including the Sippy Downs and District Community Association, Maroochy Shire Council, Maroochy Catchment Centre
- using Travel Smart initiatives
- being Highly Commended in 2006 SCEC Froggy Awards in the Sustainable Schools Category
- conducting Resource Auditing in water, energy and waste
