Code of Conduct PDF Print E-mail

Students at the Primary Campus are very aware of the code of conduct: care, courtesy, commonsense and coooperation.

We have beliefs about behaviour and the management of bullying in our school, and work through a restorative process to ensure that students learn to accept responsibility for their own behaviour.

Code of Conduct

Members of our school community will.......

CARE

Respect the rights of others
Accept and value individual differences
Develop positive relationships
Strive for personal improvement and a commitment to learning
Care for our school environment

COURTESY

Display appropriate manners at all times and use words such as "please", "thank you", "excuse me" and "sorry"
Be assertive yet respectful when dealing with others
Be punctual

COOPERATION

Be responsible self-managers of our own behaviour
Negotiate and resolve differences in ways that respect others' rights and feelings
Complete set tasks and fulfil personal responsibilities
Share ideas and resources
Help and encourage each other
Follow school procedures and policies

COMMONSENSE

Act in a sensible manner on all occasions
Minimise personal safety risks
Wear appropriate clothing at all times eg. hats in the sun
Think before doing

  Our Beliefs about Behaviour:
  • Adults in the school are positive role models, leading through example.
  • Adults in the school are positive role models, leading through example.
  • Teachers and students work together to develop classroom rules that allow every child to learn and feel safe.
  • Positive and appropriate behaviour is encouraged.
  • Students are reminded of classroom and school rules.
  • Logical consequences are used for rule infringements and punishments
  • Students are assisted to learn productive ways to resolve conflicts
  • Students are expected and assisted to work out how they are going to improve their behaviour.

Where necessary:

  • If a student persistently misbehaves, parents will be requested to visit the school to be involved in finding a solution to the problem.
  • Administration and specialist teachers provide additional support.
  • Counselling services are provided.
  • Students are withdrawn from class.
  • Students are suspended and/or excluded from school.

Bullying

Bullying means teasing, hurting or upsetting another person through:

  • physical threats or actions (eg. hitting, punching, kicking)
  • verbal threats (eg. taunting, teasing, swearing, harassing
  • non-verbal threats or actions (eg. aggressive looks, body language, gesture
  • extortion (eg. threatening another person with violence to obtain something of value: money, toys, food
  • exclusion (eg. deliberately ignoring someone and/or excluding them from games, friendship groups and activity groups).
